Tucson, AZ (January 21, 2020) – One man is dead and another man is facing a murder charge after a wrong-way crash occurred near downtown Tucson on Friday.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety said Albert Batt was pronounced dead at the scene, and authorities identified the driver involved as Marcos Moreno. He was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder.

Moreno drove the wrong way on the Interstate 10 frontage road at Congress Street around 2:10 a.m., according to DPS officials. A trooper tried to stop Moreno, but he turned his vehicle around and fled at a high rate of speed, colliding with Batt’s vehicle.

The accident still remains under investigation.
