Tucson, AZ (September 20, 2019) – A 7-year-old girl has died following a car crash on Wednesday night in Drexel Heights.

According to deputies with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the wreck occurred around 6:00 p.m. at West Valencia Road and Camino De La Tierra. Authorities said that two cars collided in the intersection, resulting in serious injuries to the 7-year-old girl, who was a passenger in one of the vehicles. She was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, Vilma Wamsley, 65, was arrested for a motor vehicle violation causing death. Pima Country officials have not released further details.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
