Tucson, AZ (January 15, 2020) – Officers from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department have identified the man killed in a crash on the northwest side on Tuesday.
According to the PCSD, 52-year-old Brian Hieb was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Deputies attempted to make a traffic stop at about 9:45 p.m. at La Cañada Drive and River Road. However, Hieb did not stop and fled northbound on La Cañada.
As Hieb continued north, his vehicle collided with and sideswiped another vehicle before crashing into a guardrail near Emerine Drive. Hieb was the only occupant of his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was treated by Tucson EMTs, but their identifying information and current condition have not been released.
The accident remains under investigation, but anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
Our condolences go out to the family of Brian Hieb. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
While Arizona’s number of fatal injuries from collisions marginally declined at the beginning of the decade, it has risen sharply again over the past several years. In addition, hundreds of fatal car accidents happen every year across the state.
Oftentimes, these serious collisions result in long-term health issues, costly medical bills, and death for victims, not to mention emotional trauma. Victims and their families are especially vulnerable when they’re involved in wrecks that occur due to the negligence of other drivers. When victims succumb to their injuries, grieving families are left behind to pick up the pieces. Those affected can safeguard their legal rights with the help of a skilled personal injury lawyer.
