Tucson, AZ (May 25, 2020) – Investigators with the Tucson Police Department stated that a 16-year-old boy involved in an ATV collision late Thursday has since succumbed to his injuries.

Per official reports, the boy was driving an ATV with a 13-year-old passenger late Thursday evening when he collided with a passenger vehicle in a neighborhood on the far south side. Both riders were rushed to Banner University Medical Center via ambulance, where the 16-year-old driver later died from his injuries.

The 13-year-old is still in the hospital receiving care for serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to a news release from TPD.

Investigators say the incident occurred near the intersection of South Seventh Avenue and Michigan Drive around 10:00 p.m. The other vehicle involved was identified as a gray 2011 Honda Accord, and police say the driver of the Honda was not impaired at the time of the collision.

Police are still continuing their investigation. No charges or citations have been issued at this time.
