Tucson, AZ – Serious Injuries Reported in 2 Multi-Car Collisions on Irvington Rd

Tucson, AZ (November 2, 2019) – Two collisions on Irvington Road resulted in serious injuries, major road closures, and power outages to neighboring residences on Friday evening.

Per reports from the Tucson Police Department, traffic investigators responded to a hit-and-run collision at Irvington Road and Campbell Avenue involving a pedestrian on Friday. Sgt. Pete Dugan, a public information officer with the Tucson Police Department, said that the driver fled the scene and the man who was hit was transported to a local area hospital via ambulance with life-threatening injuries.

Tucson police are also investigating another crash in the same area, which happened a few minutes prior. A multi-car collision on Irvington Road and Mountain Avenue caused power outages to thousands of Tucson Electric Power customers on Friday evening. The crash caused one car to roll into a power pole near the intersection of Irvington Road and Mountain Avenue, resulting in the power outage.

Dugan said that one of the drivers fled the scene on foot but was later apprehended.

The investigation is ongoing, though police do not believe the two collisions are related.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
