Tucson, AZ (February 17, 2020) – A pedestrian died after being hit by a driver while crossing a roadway in Tucson on Sunday morning.
According to officers from the Tucson Police Department, 21-year-old Isaiah Suazo passed away from his injuries at Banner-UMC.
Detectives learned that Suazo had just left a nearby residence and was crossing Drexel Road when he was hit. As he and a group of others crossed the road, a vehicle stopped to allow them to cross, but a second car in the same lane swerved to avoid rear-ending the stopped car in front.
The driver attempted to stop but ultimately struck Suazo as he was crossing. The driver involved in the collision cooperated with the investigation. A DUI officer determined the driver was impaired.
An investigation is currently ongoing.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family of Isaiah Suazo at this time.
