Tucson, AZ – Clayton Matheson Killed in Motorcycle Wreck at Olsen Ave

Tucson, AZ (December 26, 2019) – A motorcyclist has died after sustaining life-threatening injuries in a motorcycle crash last Thursday morning, December 19, according to officials from the Tucson Police Department.

Officers say that the crash happened on East Speedway near North Olsen Avenue. Clayton E. Matheson, 24, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after the accident. He died as a result of the injuries on Thursday, according to a news release from the Tucson Police Department.

Detectives determined that a Honda Accord traveling westbound on Speedway turned onto Olsen Avenue, in front of a KTM Sport Motorcycle driven by Matheson. His motorcycle struck the rear passenger door of the Honda, throwing him over the vehicle and onto the roadway, police said. Matheson was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Tucson police spokesman Sgt. Pete Dugan said that the driver remained on the scene and said that speed may have been a factor in the incident, but the accident remains under investigation.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family of Clayton E. Matheson at this time.
