Surprise, AZ (October 26, 2019) – The teenage boy struck and killed by a vehicle near Loop 303 and Greenway Road earlier this week was riding a scooter across the highway, according to officials.
Sgt. Tim Klarkowski of the Surprise Police Department said the investigation is in the early stages and could not immediately confirm the boy’s age. However, the Arizona Department of Transportation said the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. and that the southbound Loop 303 off-ramp to Greenway Road was closed due to the crash while authorities investigated.
Phoenix paramedics also arrived on the scene shortly after the crash occurred and said that the victim was pronounced dead at the accident area. Police provided no additional information about the driver at this time and only clarified that the victim was riding his scooter along the freeway.
Our sincerest condolences go out to the victim’s family.
