Scottsdale, AZ – Several Injuries Reported After DUI & Pedestrian Crash at Camelback Rd

Scottsdale, AZ (January 16, 2020) – A man has been arrested after crashing into a shopping district area in Scottsdale on Sunday.

The allegedly impaired driver reportedly drove through Scottsdale Galleria, plowing through barricades, hitting police and pedestrians, and eventually going airborne after crashing through a bike rack. The driver, later identified as 27-year-old Andreas Deshawn Braggs, reportedly admitted to drinking two alcoholic beverages to officers before the crash occurred. As the officers were speaking with him, Braggs allegedly put his car in gear and took off, nearly hitting the two officers and striking at least one pedestrian.

Officers screamed for people to get out of the vehicle’s way as his car traveled through the Galleria. Following the crash, Braggs was reportedly found in an alley trying to run away. He later surrendered to officers after they drew their tasers, police say. Scottsdale EMTs arrived at the scene to treat victims and said that no serious injuries were reported.

Braggs has been charged with multiple counts of endangerment and unlawful flight.

Our thoughts are extended to the injured victims and their families in hopes of a fast recovery.
