Scottsdale, AZ (December 18, 2019) – A Scottsdale officer was struck and injured in a crash on Loop 101 at Chaparral Road on Wednesday morning, causing the freeway to be shut down.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety closed the northbound lanes to investigate the crash for several hours. The lanes have since reopened.
Sgt. Ben Hoster with the Scottsdale Police Department said that the officer was off his motorcycle conducting a traffic stop when he was hit by a car passing by. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been released from the hospital. The driver’s information, as well as their current condition, is unknown.
Our thoughts are with the injured officer and his family in hopes of a quick recovery.
Car accidents, particularly those involving injuries, are an unfortunate but common fact of life. And though hundreds of car collisions take place across Arizona every day, victims suffer greatly from physical and emotional trauma for months or even years after the incident.
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, nearly 50,000 crash injuries occurred statewide in 2018, many of them caused by impaired or driver negligence. And these injurious accidents result in tragic consequences for victims, such as long-term injuries, expensive hospital bills, and other financial difficulties. But those affected can seek help from an accident lawyer to seek the justice they deserve.
At ELG Law, our skilled team of auto accident lawyers specializes in fighting for victims and their families after they’ve experienced these devastating incidents due to the negligence of other drivers.
