Scottsdale, AZ (March 7, 2020) – Officers from the Scottsdale Police Department are investigating a crash that left a child dead on Saturday.

According to authorities, the crash involving a child happened near Hayden Road and Royal Palm Road, located near Indian School Road, in Scottsdale. Scottsdale police officers say that a 28-year-old woman was driving in the area when she lost control of her car, jumping onto a curb. At that time, a child on the curb was hit by the woman’s vehicle.

Police say the 2-year-old boy and his parents were walking on the sidewalk at the time of the accident. The child was rushed to a hospital via ambulance, but he was later pronounced dead. Police say that witnesses on the scene performed CPR before emergency crews arrived.

Scottsdale police officers say that the boy’s parents were not hurt in the crash. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the officers. Police say speed and impairment were not factors in the crash, though the accident remains under investigation.
