San Tan Valley, AZ – Child Struck & Injured by Parade Float Near Ironwood Rd

San Tan Valley, AZ (September 27, 2019) – A 1o-year-old child was struck by a parade float and taken to a hospital on Friday.

Rural Metro spokesman Shawn Gilleland said that the child was attending a homecoming parade in San Tan Valley and was hit by a parade float near Ironwood Road and Germann Road. Officials with the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office and Pinal County emergency medical technicians were at the scene to transport the 10-year-old to an area hospital via ambulance. Authorities say he was running to get candy when he was struck by the float and sustained abdominal injuries in the accident.

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office noted that the child is expected to fully recover.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and his family at this time. We hope for his full recovery.
