Rimrock, AZ (February 13, 2020) – A 5-year-old girl died on Thursday after being seriously injured in a wrong-way crash that occurred in Rimrock on Monday.
On Monday, the girl’s mother drove her vehicle the wrong way on Cornville Road, resulting in a head-on collision with another vehicle driven by an adult male. Both drivers and the girl were seriously injured and were transported to a local area hospital, according to Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office officials.
Life support was discontinued on Thursday, officials said.
The identities of the two adults have not yet been released.
Our condolences go out to the family of the deceased victim. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
Typically caused by impaired, distracted or otherwise negligent drivers, wrong-way crashes mean severe consequences for those involved. In fact, wrong-way collisions, more than any other type of crash, occur when drivers are under the influence. Furthermore, studies show that nearly 90 percent of these wrong-way accidents are caused by some sort of driver negligence.
Tragic, unforeseen consequences may plague victims and their families after these wrong-way wrecks. Due to the nature of these serious crashes, which are often head-on collisions, victims are much more vulnerable to serious injury or even death. But those affected can contact a Phoenix accident lawyer for help, and in some cases, seek the fair compensation they deserve from a personal injury suit or wrongful death suit.
