Phoenix, AZ – Officer Injured in Car Crash on State Route 87


Phoenix, AZ (July 30, 2019) – According to police, an officer was injured in a car crash that happened 20 minutes away from Mesa on State Route 87 in Phoenix.

The accident took place on Monday night, July 29th, along AZ-87. At the time, the trooper involved was helping a person who was stranded on the side of the road. Another driver came along identified as an elderly man and struck the patrol car. There was a tow truck driver at the scene who had to dive under his truck so that he would not be struck by the vehicle.

The driver involved in the crash claimed that he blacked out before he struck the patrol vehicle and was injured. The trooper also received moderate injuries. The accident caused severe damages to the involved patrol vehicle.

At this time, the investigation into the accident continues.
