Phoenix, AZ – Head-on Collision Involving Truck on Interstate 17
Phoenix, AZ (August 13, 2019) – Police responded to the scene of a head-on collision involving a truck that took place on Interstate 17 in Phoenix and led to injuries in one party.
The accident happened when a vehicle had been traveling in the wrong direction when it suddenly slammed into a tractor-trailer head-on. One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The Arizona Department of Transportation said that lanes were closed around 5:30 a.m. this morning, August 13th, and didn’t open until about four hours later.
Police say that the sedan had been traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when it suddenly smashed into the driver’s side of the semi. The impact was so forceful that the driver, a woman in her 20s, was ejected from the vehicle. She was conscious at the scene but taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident is ongoing at this time.
