Phoenix, AZ (July 11, 2019) – Yesterday morning, July 10th, police responded to the scene of a fatal pedestrian accident that took place at the intersection of I-10 and 91st Avenue. Now, the name of the deceased has been released to the public.
According to authorities, 54-year-old Abelino Rudolfo was struck by an oncoming vehicle that was traveling in the westbound lanes near the intersection at 4:40 a.m.
Police are not yet sure why Rudolfo was on the freeway but stated that it was one of the worst pedestrian accidents due to the severe injuries sustained.
The driver remained at the scene of the accident and said that they struck the pedestrian unwillingly. Charges will not be filed. The roadway was closed down for several hours after the accident.
At this time, the Arizona Department of Transportation and local police continue to investigate.
Our sincere condolences are warmly extended to those who have suffered losses due to this accident.
