Phoenix, AZ – UPDATE: Pedestrian in Critical Condition After Crash at N 81st Ave

Phoenix, AZ (November 21, 2019) – A 28-year-old woman remains in critical condition after she was reportedly struck by three vehicles while crossing the street near North 81st Avenue and West Indian School Road on Tuesday evening.

According to officers from the Phoenix Police Department, police responded to the intersection around 6:00 p.m. A witness told police the pedestrian was struck by three vehicles but could not give a description of the first vehicle. Detective Luis A. Samudio, a Phoenix police spokesman, said that investigators only have the one witness statement, and no other witness has come forward to confirm a description of the first vehicle.

Authorities said that the second vehicle, which also fled the scene, was described as a newer model truck, possibly a Chevrolet. Samudio said the driver of the third car that hit the woman remained on the scene. That driver struck the pedestrian while she was already on the ground, realized he hit someone and pulled over.

The victim of the hit-and-run accident remains in critical condition at this time, and the accident remains under investigation.

Our thoughts go out to the injured victim in hopes of a full recovery.
