Phoenix, AZ (January 31, 2020) – Three people were injured, two of them critically, after a pedestrian accident on Thursday evening in Phoenix.

According to authorities from the Phoenix Police Department, the pedestrians were injured in the accident while standing at a north Phoenix bus stop. Police Sgt. Tommy Thompson said that the collision occurred around 6:45 p.m. near East Greenway Parkway and North 27th Street. Officers say that a 22-year-old  woman driving a 2016 Volkswagen GTI tried to make a left turn from 27th Street heading east, failed to yield the right of way, and as she was completing the turn, collided with a 2008 Nissan Altima driven by a 56-year-old woman.

The driver of the Nissan veered to the right, left the roadway and collided with the three pedestrians waiting at a bus stop on the south side of the road.

The pedestrians, a 24-year-old man, a 46-year-old man, and a 17-year-old boy, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, said Thompson.

The driver of the Nissan was taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
