Phoenix, AZ – UPDATE: Christepher Crawford in Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash on 43rd Ave

Phoenix, AZ (March 4, 2020) – A man has died after a Phoenix hit-and-run that occurred early Tuesday morning.

Per reports from the Phoenix Police Department, the wreck occurred around 6:30 a.m. near 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road. The pedestrian, whose name was not released by police, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Christepher Crawford, 23, called police a short time later to report his involvement in the hit-and-run crash. Crawford was driving his Chevrolet Silverado north on 43rd Avenue from Interstate 10 when he struck and killed the victim before leaving the scene.

Crawford was arrested shortly before 9:30 a.m. on suspicion of one count of leaving the scene of an accident with death or injury. 

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
