Phoenix, AZ – 2-Car Accident Blocks I-17 at Thomas Rd

Phoenix, AZ (September 7, 2019) – A two-vehicle wreck on Saturday afternoon blocked traffic on Interstate 17 near Thomas Road.

According to authorities on the scene, a minivan rear-ended a white Mazda sedan in the right lanes of I-17, also referred to as the Black Canyon Freeway. Both vehicles were traveling northbound when they collided just before Thomas Road. Fire rescue units and paramedics responded to the wreck around 2:20 p.m.

Both drivers pulled onto the shoulder, though the accident backed up traffic for several miles. Officials are still working to determine the cause of the crash and have not released the drivers’ information at this time.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Multi-Vehicle Collisions in Arizona

Hundreds of car accidents, from minor fender benders to serious collisions, occur on Arizona roads every day. Data released by the Arizona Department of Transportation shows that nearly 130,000 crashes occurred across the state last year, with almost 11,000 of those accidents involving at least two vehicles.

Multi-vehicle collisions are often stressful and can result in tragic, unforeseen circumstances. Victims of these multi-car collisions often have to cope with emotional distress, injuries, insurance companies, and even lost wages. However, victims and their families can seek help from a personal injury lawyer and learn more about their options after an accident that occurred through no fault of their own.
