Phoenix, AZ (October 1, 2019) – Last night around 9:40 p.m., police reported that four people were injured in a wrong-way accident on Interstate-17 in Phoenix.

The accident occurred when a driver headed the wrong way on the highway collided into three vehicles. The crash closed down southbound traffic lanes until approximately 2 a.m.

Authorities received calls to their dispatch center about a driver headed in the wrong direction in the area. However, when they responded, the crash had already occurred.

The drivers of multiple vehicles were transported to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. Police claim that the injuries ranged from serious to non-life-threatening. The driver who caused the accident was seriously injured.

The investigation into the accident is currently ongoing.
