Phoenix, AZ – Serious Injuries Reported in Three-Car Crash at Northern & 37th Aves


Phoenix, AZ (October 12, 2020) – Officers with the Phoenix Police Department are investigating a crash that happened early Sunday morning near 37th Avenue and Northern Avenue.

Officers were called to the area for a crash involving three vehicles around 12:30 a.m. Authorities on the scene said that a Nissan Sentra, driven by a 25-year-old man, was traveling westbound on Northern Avenue when it crossed into the eastbound lane and hit a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse.

The Sentra continued traveling westbound after the initial accident and struck a 2020 Dodge Durango.

Paramedics with the Phoenix Fire Department transported the driver of the Nissan to a hospital via ambulance with life-threatening injuries.

Paramedics also transported the 31-year-old male driver and 2a 8-year-old female passenger who was traveling inside of the Durango to a hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Durango was cited for driving while impaired.

The 33-year-old male driver of the Chevy Traverse remained on the scene and suffered only minor injuries. He was evaluated and did not display signs of impairment, per the initial accident report released by the Phoenix police.

Officers at the scene also said that one of the vehicles caught fire immediately following the crash. It’s unclear which vehicle and if anybody inside the vehicle suffered burns.

The investigation remains ongoing.
