Phoenix, AZ (December 6, 2019) – A Scottsdale man was killed after a head-on collision northwest of Phoenix on Wednesday morning, December 4th.

According to officers from the Phoenix Police Department, the crash closed the highway in both directions. The Arizona Department of Public Safety said that a Mercedes sedan was traveling westbound on State Route 74 when it was struck head-on by a semi-truck carrying gravel. DPS officials said that the 65-year-old victim, traveling in the Mercedes, was declared dead at the scene.

Authorities said State Route 74 was closed in both directions between 211th Avenue and U.S. 60 for an extended period while they investigated. No charges or citations have been issued at this time, and the victims’ information has not been released.
