Phoenix, AZ (September 15, 2019) – One man was rescued after a crash threw his vehicle into the Laveen Canal on Saturday.
According to Captain Kenny Overton, a spokesman from the Phoenix Fire Department, crews responded to the car crash near 35th Avenue and Dobbins Road just after 9:00 p.m. They found a car in the canal with a man trapped in the back and another vehicle at the scene, still on the roadway. Firefighters had to cut the man from the vehicle using the jaws of life by removing the roof to gain access to the victim. He was conscious and communicating with rescuers while they were working to free him from the vehicle.
After he was freed, he was transported to a local hospital via ambulance, where he remains in stable condition. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash. They have not released information about the other driver or the identity of the injured victim at this time.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and his family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Vehicle accidents happen each day throughout the nation, so drivers should be aware of the hazards they encounter on highways and their responsibilities as drivers. According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, hundreds of accidents happen statewide daily, with thousands of injured victims yearly.
Unfortunately, even the best drivers may be involved in at least one wreck in their lifetime. And these wrecks can result in stressful consequences, like painful long-term injuries, emotional distress, and financial issues. However, those affected by these wrecks can seek help from an accident lawyer, especially if they’ve been involved in an accident caused by the negligent actions of another driver.
