Phoenix, AZ (November 22, 2019) – A woman has died and two others are injured after a serious accident on Thursday night at the intersection of Indian School Road and 55th Avenue in Phoenix.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, a passenger in one of the vehicles involved, 61-year-old Leticia Ochoa, was taken to a hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Officers said in a Phoenix police news release that a 68-year-old man, and a 19-year-old man, are in critical condition and serious condition, respectively. 

Phoenix police officers found a truck and sedan with accident damage at the location of the crash around 6:30 p.m. The suspect was driving his sedan at a high rate of speed, traveling eastbound on Indian School Road, when he collided with the truck operated by the other victim and his passenger. The truck was turning left onto 55th Avenue at the time, according to the news release.

After the crash, the sedan went off the roadway and into an apartment complex fence. Impairment is not a factor for either driver, though the investigation is still ongoing.
