Phoenix, AZ – Injury Multi-Vehicle Crash Reported on I-17 at Pinnacle Peak Rd

Phoenix, AZ (October 10, 2020) – Several injuries were reported after a crash on Interstate 17 at Pinnacle Peak on Saturday evening.

Officials from the Phoenix Police Department said that the wreck occurred just before 11:15 p.m. and involved multiple vehicles. Initially, the wreck closed the left and HOV lanes and appeared to also involve a motorcycle.

It’s unclear how the accident occurred, though officers and fire rescue units were dispatched to the scene shortly after the wreck occurred to collect evidence and clear the wreck. At this time, it appears that the vehicles collided in the southbound lanes of I-17. Paramedics were also on the scene to treat victims and transport any victims who were seriously injured to a local area hospital.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says the crash forced the closure of the southbound lanes of Interstate 17 at Pinnacle Peak Road, and motorists were using the off- and on-ramps at Pinnacle Peak to continue on the highway.

Investigators on the scene are still working to piece together the moments leading up to the accident. The investigation into the crash continues at this time.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery.
