Phoenix, AZ (October 24, 2019) – Police responded to the scene of a DUI accident that took place at the intersection of 53rd Avenue and Indian School Road in Phoenix.
A Department of Transportation video caught the entire event on video. The video showed two adults pushing a stroller and walking through the intersection when it was their right-of-way. An SUV ran a red light, speeding through the intersection. The driver of the SUV was later identified as Ernesto Otanez Oveso.
Another vehicle driven by a 27-year-old woman slammed into the SUV to stop the driver from hitting the pedestrians and possibly causing serious injuries or fatalities.
The woman was the only person injured in the accident. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized.
Police arrested Oveso on DUI and aggravated assault charges.
At this time, the investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing.
