Phoenix, AZ – Crash Blocks Several Lanes on I-17 at Indian School Rd

Phoenix, AZ (July 28, 2019) – A multi-vehicle accident on Sunday evening, July 28th, blocked all but the right lane on I-17 southbound at Indian School Road.

Authorities responded to the scene of the crash around 6:10 p.m. and say that at least two vehicles were involved in the collision, including a cargo van. The collision occurred in the southbound lanes of traffic on I-17, also known as the Black Canyon Freeway, near Indian School Road in Phoenix. Police and fire rescue units were at the scene of the wreck to assist the injured victims and investigate the cause of the crash.

All lanes reopened just before 7:00 p.m., though the drivers’ identities and their current conditions have not yet been released.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recoveries.

Multi-Vehicle Crashes in Arizona

Nearly 55,000 crashes and more than 35,000 injuries occurred as a result across Arizona in 2018, part of a steady year-over-year increase in severe wrecks since 2016. More than half of those crashes were rear-end collisions with one or more injuries. And data from the Arizona Department of Transporation shows that the summer months are bringing more traffic to state highways, leading to an enhanced risk of these serious incidents for drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians.

Critical injuries, costly medical expenses, and even job loss are some of the tragic consequences that may befall victims and their families after an accident. However, those affected by dangerous car crashes can contact a Phoenix accident lawyer for help, and in some cases, seek the justice they deserve from a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit.
