Phoenix, AZ (October 16, 2019) – Two motorcyclists were transported to a hospital with serious injuries after a crash late Monday night.
Officers from the Phoenix Police Department arrived shortly after the wreck occurred near 17th Avenue and Mountain View Road. Police said that a man was riding a motorcycle with his woman passenger when he lost control and laid the bike down. He then hit a parked vehicle on the motorcycle, which caused his passenger to become pinned under the car. Firefighters had to rescue the passenger from underneath the car.
Both riders sustained serious life-threatening injuries and were rushed to a local area hospital via ambulance. No further information is available at this time, but officials say that they are investigating speed and impairment as factors.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
Over the past several years, motorcycle deaths accounted for almost 14 percent of all traffic fatalities nationally. In addition, data released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration show that motorcycle wrecks have more than doubled in the last 25 years. And crash statistics note that one in seven deaths on the road occurred on a motorcycle.
The nature of these wrecks means that tragic consequences may befall victims, including long-term physical problems, medical bills, and even job loss or death. But the victims and their families affected by these injurious motorcycle wrecks can contact a Phoenix accident lawyer for help.
