Phoenix, AZ (February 10, 2020) – A multiple vehicle accident on Sunday afternoon blocked the left lane of US-60 eastbound past Rural Road and resulted in at least one injury.
According to authorities, the injury accident occurred when several vehicles traveling eastbound on US-60, also known as the Superstition Freeway, collided around 5:46 p.m. Fire rescue units, as well as the police, were on the scene to assist victims of the crash and investigate the cause. At least two vehicles appeared to be involved in the wreck, which occurred due to a chain-reaction rear-end accident.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash at this time but have not released the victims’ information.
The number of vehicle accidents across the state is on the rise, with nearly 55,000 injuries and more than 1,000 deaths in 2018 alone from car accidents in Arizona. And according to recent reports and data from the Arizona Department of Transportation, the summer months bring more traffic to the roads, meaning a greater chance of these dangerous incidents.
