Mesa, AZ – Details Released After Joshua Garcia Killed in Hit-and-Run on AZ-60 at Higley Rd

Mesa, AZ (November 9, 2019) – Further details have been released after a deadly Mesa hit-and-run on Highway 60 near Higley Road last November.

According to information from Arizona State Troopers, 21-year-old Joshua Garcia was driving a flatbed truck carrying construction equipment when he hit an abandoned car parked on the shoulder. The impact caused Garcia’s truck to roll over, and he was ejected.

After the initial collision, two people in a white Ford Ranger pickup stopped to render aid to Joshua Garcia and used barricades from his truck to stop traffic. However, another driver then ran over Garcia and left the scene of the accident. Mesa paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after the incident occurred, though Garcia later succumbed to his injuries.

State Troopers believe the suspect vehicle is a 2001-2006 dark blue or black Chevrolet Tahoe or GMC Yukon with damage to its right side and undercarriage. Law enforcement has asked anyone with information to call their local police department.

Our thoughts and condolences are extended to the family of Joshua Garcia.
