Laveen Village, AZ (November 26, 2020) – One man was killed and another man could be facing charges after a hit-and-run accident that occurred in Phoenix on Wednesday evening.

Per reports from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened just after 7:00 p.m. in the area of 39th Avenue and Southern Avenue. When Maricopa County deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered a man in the road who had been hit by a car. The vehicle involved had fled the scene, however.

The man, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, the man who hit the victim was taken into custody without incident, but it’s unclear how they found the man.

At this point, officers haven’t said whether speed or impairment were factors in the crash. Investigators have not released any other information, but authorities say the investigation is ongoing at this time.
