Goodyear, AZ (December 3, 2019) – Further details have been released after a teenager was struck and killed by a school bus in Goodyear last month.
Goodyear fire officials said that the crash happened near 144th Avenue and Indian School Road, just outside of Western Sky Middle School. The boy, 13, was rushed to a pediatric trauma hospital in extremely critical condition, but he later died from his injuries that same week.
The crash, which occurred only one week before Thanksgiving break, is still under investigation, but the boy’s parents commented that they do not fault the school district for the accident. Authorities have not given an update on the investigation, though they said that no citations have been issues at this time.
Our condolences go out to the victim’s family.
Nearly 1,600 pedestrians were struck and killed in Arizona between 2010 and 2018, primarily in large cities like Phoenix and Tucson, as well as these cities’ surrounding suburbs. Per data from the Arizona Department of Transportation, authorities are still seeing a year-over-year rise in fatal pedestrian accidents.
When it comes to deadly pedestrian accidents, grieving families are left to pick up the pieces. Oftentimes, victims’ families are plagued by exorbitant medical costs, financial difficulties, and emotional trauma, especially when these incidents occur due to the negligence of other drivers. However, those affected by these accidents can seek legal aid from a skilled wrongful death lawyer. A knowledgeable lawyer can help victims safeguard their legal rights in the aftermath of a crash and seek compensation to cover the costs associated with losing their loved ones.
