Gold Canyon, AZ (January 18, 2020) – Authorities from the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office say that a man was hurt on Saturday morning when his paraplane crashed.
According to officials, it happened in the Desert Wells Recreation Area near Gold Canyon, just east of the Valley. The pilot, a 50-year-old man, suffered a fractured leg when his paraplane hit a barrier. It appears that his aircraft did not get high enough off the ground, which may have caused the incident.
The pilot’s current condition, as well as the status of any other victims, is unclear. The Federal Aviation Administration has been called out to investigate the crash.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time in hopes of a full recovery.
Per a report from the Aviation Safety Network, only one fatality accident occurs in every three million flights. However, injuries and crashes involving small planes are more common and can occur due to pilot error, faulty equipment or inclement weather. Even minor air accidents can mean serious injuries for victims and their families.
Though these air accidents are rare, they are often traumatic, both physically and emotionally. If you’ve been injured in a plane crash, you should contact a personal injury attorney to review your options.
