Gold Canyon, AZ – Man Injured in Paraplane Accident at Desert Wells Recreation Area

Gold Canyon, AZ (January 18, 2020) – Authorities from the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office say that a man was hurt on Saturday morning when his paraplane crashed.

According to officials, it happened in the Desert Wells Recreation Area near Gold Canyon, just east of the Valley. The pilot, a 50-year-old man, suffered a fractured leg when his paraplane hit a barrier. It appears that his aircraft did not get high enough off the ground, which may have caused the incident.

The pilot’s current condition, as well as the status of any other victims, is unclear. The Federal Aviation Administration has been called out to investigate the crash.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time in hopes of a full recovery.
