Glendale, AZ (December 16, 2019) – A man is suffering from life-threatening injuries after a driver hit him in Glendale.
Per reports from the Glendale Police Department, it happened around 8:00 p.m. on Monday at 59th Avenue and Medlock Drive, just north of Camelback Road. The driver stayed on the scene, police said, and Glendale EMTs arrived shortly after the accident occurred to transport the victim to a local area hospital.
Aerial news video showed that there isn’t a crosswalk in the area. It’s unclear if impairment is a factor in the collision, though authorities are still investigating.
Our thoughts go out to the injured victim in hopes of a full recovery.
There are several pedestrian accidents in Arizona every year, many of those being hit-and-run crashes. In fact, recent data indicate that 800,000 hit-and-run collisions happened throughout the country every year, many due to unlicensed, intoxicated, or otherwise reckless drivers. And pedestrian accidents are on the rise overall, particularly across the state of Arizona.
