Cordes Junction, AZ (November 20, 2019) – Authorities in Cordes Junction say southbound Interstate 17 was closed for more than three hours on Wednesday morning due to a serious collision involving a tractor-trailer rig.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the wreck occurred near Cordes Junction, which is about 55 miles north of Phoenix. Local authorities are still determining the cause of the wreck, though they believe it may be weather-related. Paramedics and fire rescue units were at the scene to treat victims, but it isn’t clear if any injured persons were transported to the hospital via ambulance.
Drivers were advised to detour around the closure by taking State Routes 169 and 69 while police investigated the crash.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
When it comes to truck accidents involving tractor-trailers, box trucks, and cargo vans, the results for victims are often devastating. In fact, a total of 97 deaths and 2,728 injuries were recorded by the Arizona Department of Transportation in 2012 as a result of truck accidents.
Additionally, when victims are involved in accidents with trucks contracted to large companies, they could face an uphill battle with insurance companies. But those affected by these sudden and stressful crashes can seek help from a personal injury lawyer, especially when they’ve been involved in a wreck resulting from other drivers’ negligent actions.
