Chandler, AZ – Pedestrian Accident Results in Injury on Arizona Ave


Chandler, AZ (September 18, 2019) – A pedestrian accident near Chandler High School sent a 15-year-old girl to the hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

According to officials from the Chandler Police Department, the girl was hit while crossing Arizona Avenue, near Chandler High School, just after 3:30 p.m. She was struck by a red Volkswagen as she was making her way through the crosswalk.

A 16-year-old Chandler High student was driving the Volkswagen, turning right from Erie Street onto Arizona Avenue when the collision occurred. Police said that Chandler paramedics and fire rescue units were on the scene to assist and transport the girl to the hospital via ambulance. She suffered serious head injuries as a result of the collision but is expected to recover.

The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with authorities. The accident investigation is ongoing.
